IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ | Foundation Friday
Hello and thank you for joining me! Today I will be sharing the third entry in my Foundation Friday series and we will be covering the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+. For this first non-powder entry in the Foundation Friday series, I want to start with a liquid foundation that I’ve been loving for the last few years to serve as a benchmark for other liquid foundations. If this sounds interesting then keep reading for my favourite application, companion products, and who this will work best for.
Base Layer
I’ve always been a believer in the phrase “Not to prime is a crime”; in other words, skin prep (not necessarily a makeup primer) is essential for a great makeup application.
This week, I kept this step pretty simple and stuck to my typical morning skincare and SPF prior to my makeup application. There was every intent to use a primer; but there was only one day I used a foundation primer and that was the final day of testing.
I would like to report that the CC+ Cream wore beautifully for those five days I forgot to apply primer. On the sixth day I decided to test out the Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 instead of my typical SPF along with the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Primer and the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Setting Spray+. I’ll go into detail later in this post about how the foundation wore and some of my primer recommendations.
Foundation Overview
Spoiler Alert! I adore this foundation because it’s such a workhorse for so many different skin types. You can easily wear this product from a sheer to a medium-full coverage level and its natural finish can easily be manipulated by what you layer under it.
One interesting quality about this formula that I want to highlight is that it layers extremely well – it seems like the more you apply the smoother you skin looks. That being said, don’t get crazy! Too many layers and it will very much look like makeup sitting on top of your face, albeit a very smooth layer of makeup.
Application Tips and Preferences
My favourite way to wear the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ is over my beloved La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids Lotion SPF 50! I like to take the product on the back of my hand and then dot it around with a finger where I want coverage, then I’ll spread and blend out with the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush #7.
After the initial application I like to use smaller end of the brush and excess foundation to spot-treat any areas where I want a little more coverage. Once I’m happy with the coverage, I will use a damp beauty sponge and stipple over my face to remove some of the excess product while pushing the CC+ Cream into my skin for a flawless “your skin but better” look.
Brushes
When it comes to coverage, you want to look at the brush you are using; the denser the brush, the higher level of coverage you will achieve. Some examples of brushes I love for different levels of coverage are:
damp beauty sponge, for sheer application,
IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe #7, for medium application, and
IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe #6, for heavy application.
Wear Test
I wore the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ every day for six days – unintentionally forgetting primer and setting spray for the first five days; however, on the sixth day I tested it with a new SPF and setting spray along with a favourite primer.
Days 1-5
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids Lotion SPF 50+, no primer, and no setting spray
As with my previous foundation reviews, I never really feel the urge to touch-up throughout the day as I don’t mind a little extra shine. On the first five days of wearing this foundation, I noticed some signs of wear around the corners of my nose, my smile lines, and the outer corners of my eyes – these were easily corrected by tapping over them with my finger or a sponge.
Day 6
Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40, IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Makeup Primer, and IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Setting Spray+
I was a little nervous going into this application as I was throwing a new SPF and setting spray at this foundation; the primer I’ve used numerous times with this foundation, however, so I had faith it would all work out. At the 12-hour mark everything still looked good for the most part. I did see a tiny bit of skin texture that was more noticeable than it had been earlier, though I don’t think anyone else would really be able to notice unless I pointed it out.
Overall, The IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream passed my foundation testing with flying colours!
Primer Recommendations
Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer
The Silk Canvas does a wonderful job at smoothing the appearance of undesirable skin texture, large pores, and dry patches! I feel like this primer would work for all skin types except those with very oily skin. When I was still working in retail makeup, I found that I would get slightly shinier in my T-zone compared to wearing the CC+ cream without a primer; however, it’s nothing a quick blot wont fix!
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
This is a holy grail when paired with the CC+ cream, especially in the warmer months! This primer not only gives my skin a smoother look, but it also extended the wear to around the 16- to 18-hour mark. I recommend this primer to those with normal to very oily skin; people with dry skin or dehydrated skin conditions might find this primer to feel drying.

Is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ Right for You?
I feel like the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ can work for a wide array of skin types; but there are a few other varieties of the CC+ Cream available that might meet individual preferences a little better.
CC+ Cream with SPF 50+
Natural satin finish that should suit an array of skin types; however, those with oilier skin might find this to feel too heavy and shiny.
CC+ Illumination with SPF 50+
A very luminous finish best suited for those with very dry to normal skin types or those who want a luminous finish. There seems to be a silvery shimmer that is visible when swatching this product, however, I don’t notice it once it’s applied to the skin. I also find that formula to feel slightly richer than the original.
CC+ Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40
This falls somewhere between a natural matte and very matte finish and the texture is more of a whipped consistency than the other two formulas, which feel creamier. I also felt like this formula offered more coverage than the other two and it felt heavier despite its whipped consistency. This was my least favourite because I don’t love an overly matte finish or full coverage; however, if you have very oily skin or you want more coverage than the other CC+ varieties then I would suggest you check out this formula!
Downside of the CC+ Cream
The only complaint I have about this foundation – which hopefully it’s clear by now that I love – is its shade range. IT Cosmetics currently offers 12 shades, which is an improvement over the original offering of seven shades. I was ecstatic when IT Cosmetics announced the Fair-Light shade in 2017, as I had been purchasing shades Fair and Light since 2014 to mix in a 50/50 ratio. Well, Fair-Light isn’t a standalone match. Fair is too light and yellow, Fair-Light is slightly dark and too pink, and Light is too dark and too yellow. So now my ideal match is one pump of Fair-Light to a quarter pump of Fair.
With so many skin tones out there – and other brands offering upwards of 40 foundation shades – it’s easy to say that IT Cosmetics has room for expansion in the CC+ range.
Mini Reviews!
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Oil-Free Makeup Primer
A fabulous makeup primer that would suit any skin type. It’s great for people looking for a primer that will help extend makeup longevity. P.S.: This works like a charm under the eyes for holding on to those thinner, serum-y concealers that wouldn’t have the greatest wear on their own.
IT Cosmetics Your Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection Face Palette
Bye Bye Pores Blush in Je Ne Sais Quoi
If you have this blush as a single you might be surprised to find that the version in the face palette is different. The single Bye Bye Pores Blush in Je Ne Sais Quoi packs a lot of pigment and I often find myself applying too much product; this version has a more sheer quality to it that I really like!
Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder
An ultra-finely milled pressed powder that excels at minimizing shine and softening the look of fine lines and pores. I did notice a little bit of flashback, but that isn’t really an issue unless you are planning a date with the red carpet.
Sunshine in a Compact Matte Bronzer
I really love how buildable this product is and it has a gorgeous ruddy undertone that I love in a bronzer. I will note that when I was watching the recorded video footage, I noticed a shiny film over this powder, so I went to check my compact and, yes, I have hard pan – oil settling on top of the powder – after a week of usage. No big deal as it was easily removed with a tissue.
Perfect Lighting Luminizer
By far this was the stand-out in this palette! If you are reading this, IT Cosmetics, I am going to need this colour as a single. The texture and payoff remind me of my holy grail highlight, Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01, except Je Ne Sais Quoi is more pink champagne where the Highlight 01 is more of a gold champagne.
IT Cosmetics Brow Power Powder in Universal Taupe
A nice brow powder that applies well; however, I find it has a lot of pigmentation. If you have very fair eyebrows I would suggest looking for a different brow powder.
IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Butter Gloss in News Anchor Blue
The 👏 best 👏 blue 👏 lip gloss 👏 ever 👏 An essential makeup product if you want a gloss to help make your pearly whites pop!
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Setting Spray+
This is a nice setting spray and the mist is ultra-fine. I did notice my skin looked slightly dry around the 12-hour mark but that’s to be expected with any setting spray that is designed to increase product longevity. Oh, also, I am not a fan of the coconut scent.
Hopefully you found this Foundation Friday along with the additional IT Cosmetics mini reviews to be helpful and thank you for spending your time with me!
Warm Wishes,
Zack
